After some hiccups, the NFL schedule appears to mostly be getting back on track... *knock on wood*. Four Canes made their way back to Miami as the Dolphins hosted the New York Jets, who feature Frank Gore, Braxton Berrios, Chris Herndon, and transfer Lawrence Cager. The homecoming was not ideal for the Jets as they lost 24-0 to fall to 0-6 on the season.
Also, today is officially National Tight Ends’ Day! The only #TEU continues to have a presence in the NFL as Jimmy Graham, Greg Olsen, Chris Herndon, and David Njoku (albeit there are rumors he is seeking a trade) are still active on Sundays.
Before delving into this week’s slate let’s get to some of last week’s action:
Week Six ProCane of the Week: DE/Calais Campbell - It was a wily veteran who showed out this past week in action, as Campbell continues to prove he has even more untapped potential when placed on one of the best defenses in the league. Against the Eagles, Campbell recorded 3.0 sacks, which is the time he has done so in his career. The strong performance earned Campbell the AFC Defensive Player of the Week and this weeks’ ProCane of the Week. The Ravens got even more stout this past week as they traded for DL Yannick Ngakoue, which should help Campbell reap even more benefits.

ProCanes Week Six Highlights:
While Campbell has been around for a while, rookie EDGE defender and Green Bay Packer, Jonathan Garvin, recorded a career high three tackles, including tackling the Tampa Bay Bucs veteran QB - Blaine Gabbert of course.
On the offensive side of the ball, Campbell’s Ravens teammate, Gus Edwards, found the end zone for the first time this season (which would increase the consecutive TDs streak to seven games, just 142 games shy of the U’s NFL record). Edwards was technically drafted out of Rutgers but he attended the U for four years and was a grad transfer to the Scarlet Knights.
Broncos LB, Anthony Chickillo, did not have an incredible box score, but was a force in disrupting New England’s backfield as he recorded a sack and two pressures on heavy blitzes. Chickillo took advantage of a mismatch as he was lined up on Patriots’ tight end, Ryan Izzo. Chickillo, despite being waived by the New Orleans Saints during final roster cuts, is assisting with filling the void left by the season ending injury to Von Miller.
Browns Safety, Sheldrick Redwine, got his first defensive start of the season as he recorded 6 tackles, 1 QBHit, and a sack, one week after recording his first career interception. Another Cleveland Brown, Olivier Vernon, continues to play well as he is back from injury.
Week Seven Projected ProCane of the Week: S/Rayshawn Jenkins - Jenkins has emerged in the past few weeks as he continues to monitor the Safety position for the Los Angeles Chargers. I expect that success to continue against a Jaguars offense that will likely be throwing a lot.
