After a breakthrough junior season, Miami Hurricanes fans will finally get their first look at 2021 wide receiver verbal commitment Jacolby George tonight.
George and his Plantation High teammates will take on Davie-Western at home tonight at 7pm in both teams’ season opener.
This is the first week that Broward County is allowing its public schools to play football games because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
George caught 46 passes for 1,030 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior in 2019. He helped lead his team to a 9-2 record, with both losses coming to eventual 7A state champion Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas.
George won’t get as many opportunities to showcase his skills in this COVID-shortened season, but Hurricanes fans are looking forward to seeing what they have coming when George arrives on campus.
Another Broward County player who is committed to Miami that kicked off his season on Thursday night is offensive line commitment Michael McLaughlin.
The Parkland-Stoneman Douglas senior helped his team to a 14-6 season-opening victory over Coral Springs on Thursday night.

In addition to McLaughlin, 2021 linebacker commitment Tyler Johnson and Miami-Killian were in action on Thursday night.
Johnson had a sack and a blocked extra point in Killian’s 54-19 victory over Miami-Norland.
