The first College Football Playoff ranking was just released, and the Miami Hurricanes checked in at #10. The Canes were sandwiched between two 2-loss teams in Oklahoma (11) and Georgia (9).
Coming into this, I hoped to see Miami ranked in the Top 10. That just barely happened, but it did, so Miami is still in decent position moving forward. What chaps me is how Georgia, with two blowout losses in its two games against decent competition and coming off a squeaker of a win over pulseless Mississippi State, sits ahead at 5-2. The commentators, specifically Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit, felt that UGA was too high. That’s an understatement, in my humble opinion. They also felt that BYU was surprisingly low at 14. It seems pretty clear that the committee is telling the Cougars to back up their “anyone, anytime, any place” mantra with action (i.e., calling the Washington Huskies back tonight).
The rest of the Top 10 is as follows:
8) Northwestern
7) Cincinnati
6) Florida
5) Texas A&M
4) Ohio State
3) Clemson
2) Notre Dame
1) Alabama
Thoughts? Did the committee get this right? Were you all happy with the Canes’ ranking? Let’s hear it.
