Week 11 ProCane of the Week: DE/Olivier Vernon - In the absence of the Brownsreal G that moves in silence like lasagna, Myles Garrett, the DE2, Olivier Vernon, stepped up in a big way and made it a tough day for the Eagles Carson Wentz. Vernon, who agreed to restructure his contract this offseason, paved the way to a 22-17 victory over Philly by recording three sacks and a safety. The three sacks matched his career high and helped Vernon earn the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Most importantly, the strong play helped the Browns improve to 7-3 and Vernon said post-game he believes this team is playoff ready:

“I saw this team had a lot of potential...” Vernon said of wanting to stay in Cleveland, via the Akron Beacon Journal. “We had too much talent, and we wasted last year. One thing that is hard to do is get a win, and the next hardest thing is get into the playoffs. I think my mindset and everybody else in this organization’s mindset right now is to get into the playoffs and trying to make something. Just have to get into the tournament.”

ProCanes Week 11 Highlights:

In other ProCanes action, their was a reunion of eight former Canes on Sunday in LA in the New York Jets-Los Angeles Chargers. And the ProCanes were on full display throughout action. Two ProCanes scored TDs, led by the ageless wonder RB, Frank Gore, who has now scored a TD in three decades. Despite a subpar season to date, Jets TE, Chris Herndon, also added a TD. Chargers Safety, Rayshawn Jenkins, continued his strong season with 7 tackles and 1 PD.

However, the highlight of the Canes reunion came when LB, Denzel Perryman, upended one of the biggest a rookie OL. In the embedded video, which is below, Perryman perfectly leveraged Jets OL, Mekhi Becton. For perspective, Becton is listed at 6’7”, 365lbs, while Perryman is listed at 5’11”, 240lbs. Perryman finished the day with 3 tackles and 1 sack. Chargers K, Michael Badgley, also had a perfect day with his foot.

In other action, Falcons DE, Allen Bailey strung together 2 tackles and 0.5 sacks. Panthers CB, Corn Elder, continues to impress in a young secondary as he held his receivers catchless on the afternoon in a win over the Lions.

In other news, Canes legend and WR, Reggie Wayne, has been listed as a Pro Football Hall of Fame semifinalist or 2021, his second year on the ballot.

Lastly, in a key week of giving, it is important to note some ProCanes doing the right thing off the field as there were three alum who earned #CommunityMVP Runner-Up awards on this Thanksgiving Day Weekend. Browns Safety, Sheldrick Redwine, as part of the Gloria Redwine Foundation partnered with Manna Food Truck Cleveland to feed 50 families from the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Ohio. Browns Safety, Jaquan Johnson, through The Johnson Opportunity Corporation provided Thanksgiving meals for families of the Northwest Community Center, as Johnson was on hand to pack meals into cars during the drive-thru event. Bears CB, Deon Bush, and his foundation worked with Cooked Chicago to impact the families of SOS Village, which is a foster cafe in Chicago, and helped distribute meals to 150 individuals. Way to lead the right way and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Week 12 Projected ProCane of the Week: LB/Denzel Perryman - Vernon could easily ball out again as he draws a favorable matchup against the hapless Jaguars, however, I’m gonna go with a less obvious pick and choose Perryman. Perryman continues to get more snaps as he recorded 56 defensive snaps (93% of defensive plays) last week and 37 defensive snaps (74%) three weeks ago. After 3 tackles, a sack, and the highlight reel shed block of Becton, Perryman is ready for another big week against the Bills, who do not feature the flashiest of running games.
