Miami Palmetto and its three 2021 Hurricane verbal commitments won another close FHSAA playoff game last Friday.

Trailing 21-20 in overtime to Treasure Coast High, the Panthers elected to go for the 2-point conversion and 22-21 victory. They converted when Jahmal Lapomarel caught a pass from Ryan Borum. Miami Palmetto never led the game until that point.

2021 Hurricane verbal commitment Brashard Smith’s 10-yard touchdown run in overtime set up the game-winning 2-point conversion.

2021 defensive line commitment Leonard Taylor was his typical, dominant self. Taylor was in the backfield causing chaos much of the time Treasure Coast was on offense.

Miami Palmetto will take on state power Vero Beach on Friday at 7:30pm in the Class 8A-Region 3 final.

Orlando-Edgewater and Deshawn Troutman had a dominant performance last Friday. Edgewater blew out Viera 59-0 in a Class 7A-Region 2 semifinal game. According to 247sports.com, Troutman totaled three tackles and a half sack in the victory while playing some linebacker and some safety.

Edgewater is looking to avenge a close loss to state power Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas in last year’s Class 7A final.

Hollywood-Chaminade-Madonna won another region championship last Friday with a 28-0 victory over Miami Edison. The Lions played without 2021 running back Thad Franklin because of a hamstring injury but relied on their stout defense, which features 2021 defensive line commitment Allan Haye and 2022 defensive line commitment Jamaal Johnson, to earn the victory.

Miami Central and 2021 offensive line commitment Laurence Seymore survived a scare in its Class 6A-Region 4 semifinal game. The Rockets, who also have 2023 wide receiver Lamar Seymore committed to Miami, trailed 14-3 at halftime and 21-17 entering the fourth quarter before two fourth quarter touchdowns pushed them by Naples on the road.

Former Miami target Yulkieth Brown had an interception return for a touchdown to seal the game in the fourth. Highlights from the game can be found here. Former Miami target Amari Daniels rushed for 210 yards in the win for Central.

2021 athlete James Williams had another huge game for Plantation-American Heritage. According to the Miami Herald, Williams forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass in Heritage’s 26-14 victory over Rockledge in a Class 5A-Region 4 semifinal game.

2021 tight end commitment Elijah Arroyo caught a touchdown in Frisco (Tx.)-Independence’s loss to Denton (Tx.)-Ryan.

2021 defensive end commitment Thomas Davis, who had 34 tackles during the regular season in eight games, helped Valdosta (Ga.)-Lowndes to a 42-0 AAAAAA Quadrant 1 quarterfinal over Covington (Ga.)-Newton last Friday. The Lowndes defense held Newton to just 81 yards in the game.

2021 kicker verbal commitment Andres Borregales and Hialeah-Champagnat Catholic continued their impressive march back to the final four. Champagnat Catholic topped Community School of Naples 67-7 last Friday to win the Class 2A-Region 4 title.

In four region playoff wins in the month of November, the Lions outscored opponents 223-32.
