Some big recruiting news happened on Monday, as 2021 5-star linebacker Terrence Lewis out of Miami Central, announced that he was de-committing from Tennessee.
With Lewis being a Miami guy, several of the Canes 2021 commits, such as Leonard Taylor, Kamren Kinchens and Kahlil Brantley, voiced their interest in bringing T2 to UM.

In my opinion, Lewis is the best linebacker in the country, and is an absolute missile on the football field. Last year as a junior, Lewis registered 105 tackles, 9 sacks and 3 interceptions. With incredible speed at the LB position, Lewis is the type of player that Manny Diaz wants on his defense, with the quickness to defend against spread offenses and teams that like to run to the outside and set up the screen pass.

247 Sports composite has Lewis ranked as the #1 inside linebacker in 2021, #5 player in Florida, and #17 overall player in the nation. Earlier this year, Lewis accepted an invitation to play in the 2021 All-American Bowl, but the game won’t be played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I think the Hurricanes need to make a move on Lewis, as he would be the perfect final piece for this recruiting class, and could potentially transform this Miami defense to an elite group in a couple years. He’s the kind of player that could make a very strong case for starting as a true freshman at linebacker, and would do great next to Sam Brooks Jr.

As of right now, Miami has offered the hometown Lewis, though many believe he’ll end up signing with another SEC school, such as Auburn or Texas A&M. However, I think that if UM decides to pursue Lewis, he’d strongly consider the Canes.
With less than two weeks until early signing day, hopefully Miami makes a move on this elite player.
