The ACC’s Friday night decision to cancel the game makes Saturday’s North Carolina game the final regular season game for the Miami Hurricanes.
“Georgia Tech informed the conference office that it will not be able to meet several of the ACC Medical Advisory Group’s COVID-19 game discontinuation considerations,” the ACC’s official statement said.
This is the second time this conference matchup has been affected this season. The Georgia Tech-Miami matchup was already postponed from its original date of November 21st due to a coronavirus outbreak within Miami’s team. This led to a two-week break for Miami that pushed this game to a proposed December 19th date.
The Hurricanes had already planned to honor its seniors with a Senior Day on Saturday against UNC.
This cancellation means that the North Carolina game will be the final regular season game for UM.
#10 Miami (8-1) faces off against the #17 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM EST in Hard Rock Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ABC with ESPN’s lead commentary team of Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit on the call.
