Nine Miami Hurricanes earn All-ACC accolades

A bunch of Canes earned recognition for their performance on the field in 2020.

NCAA Football: Miami at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday, the ACC announced the 2020 All-ACC football teams. And, for their performance on the field in this COVID-19 affected season, nine Miami Hurricanes were named to All-ACC teams.

Miami’s lone 1st Team All-ACC performer was Kicker Jose Borregales, who was also named a finalist for the Lou Groza Award for the Nation’s Best Kicker.

Miami had 4 players on 2nd Team All-ACC — TE Brevin Jordan, DE Jaelan Philliips, S Bubba Bolden, and P Louis Hedley. Like Borregales, Hedley was named a finalist for his position’s national award — the Ray Guy Award — on Tuesday.

WR Mike Harley and DE Quincy Roche were named 3rd team All-ACC.

And QB D’Eriq King and DT Nesta Silvera were named honorable mention All-ACC.

There are a couple of placements I disagree with personally. DE Jaelan Phillips should have been on 1st team. And QB D’Eriq King should have been on 3rd team. But they were both bumped down for various reasons (media falling in love with the Pitt DEs, and the national brand of ND, along with their strong regular season, had their QB picked ahead of King, despite King being a better player). But hey, it is what it is, right?

In any event, congratulations to the nine Hurricanes who earned All-ACC recognition. I loved watching them play, and look forward to watching (most of) them play again one last time this season when Miami faces off against Oklahoma State in the Cheez-it bowl on December 29th.

Congratulations!!!!
