Week 12 ProCane of the Week: S/Rayshawn Jenkins - The fourth year Safety had a breakthrough year last season as he took on a starting role and has stepped up even more this season in a heightened role for the Chargers in the absence of star Safety, Derwin James. Against a Buffalo Bills passing attack led by QB Josh Allen, James monitored the secondary by recording a career high 10 tackles in the losing effort. Jenkins has now recorded a nice 69 tackles on the season, which ranks 12th among Safeties.

ProCanes Week 12 Highlights:

In what was the longest week in NFL history, the most fun fact of the week is that a ProCane scored in both the Thanksgiving opening game, as Duke Johnson caught a pretty pass from Deshaun Watson, and Gus Edwards scored a 1-yard TD rush on Wednesday. Roughly 147 hours separating the first and last TD by ProCanes in the same NFL week.

This would have been the longest span between alum for the same school between the first and last TD of the NFL week, but that was one-upped by the Oklahoma Sooners alumnus as Lions RB, Adrian Peterson, scored the first TD of the football week at 12:51pm on Thursday, November 26th, and WR, Marquise Brown, scored the final TD at 6:29pm on Wednesday, December 2nd - a difference of 149 hours and 38 minutes between the first and last TD.

Besides that trivia fact, it was a relatively tame football week for ProCanes. Jets RB, Frank Gore, had his most rushing yards on Sunday as he ran for 74 yards on 18 carries. Colts DE, Al-Quadin Muhammad, tied his career high by recording 5 tackles. Lastly, OL Ereck Flowers, Brandon Linder, and Jon Feliciano continue to have a constant presence on their respective teams as all three played 100% of the offensive snaps.

This upcoming week, the NFL continues its fifth consecutive season of their coolest philanthropic initiative - the My Cause My Cleats campaign. During Week 13, NFL players will raise awareness for non-profit organizations and causes on the field by donning dope cause-inspired cleats. ProCanes have opted for a number of charities ranging from social justice causes, health & wellness, military, or anything else that is near and dear to them. All around, very cool. I’ve included their causes and links below (I tried to include every ProCane I could find but may have missed some as they continue to filter in on social media):

Braxton Berrios/WR NYJ: American Brain Tumor Association
Lawrence Cager/WR NYJ: Living Classroom
Jimmy Graham/TE CHI: The Jimmy Graham Foundation
Deon Bush/CB CHI: Doby’s Dream
Sheldrick Redwine/S CLE: Mental Health; The Gloria Redwine Foundation
DeeJay Dallas/RB SEA: Justice For Black Girls
K.J. Osborn/WR MINN: All Square Foundation for Social Justice
Olivier Vernon/DE CLE: Coats Disease, Jack McGovern Coats Disease Foundation
Michael Badgley/K LAC: Brooke Healey Foundation
Pat O’Donnell/P CHI: Gittlen Cancer Research Fund
KC McDermott/OL JAX: Wounded Warrior Project
Shaquille Quarterman/LB JAX: Fuel Up to Play 60
Brandon Linder/OL JAX: Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation
Al-Quadin Muhammad/DE IND: Black Lives Matter
Duke Johnson/RB HOU: Anger Management

A week after many ProCanes gave back to their community on Thanksgiving through food drives, these young men continue to do the right things on and off the field. In addition, the Baltimore Ravens nominated ProCane DE, Calais Campbell, as their team representative for the 2020 Art Rooney Award. Campbell is also expected back this week in action after a brief absence due to injury.

Week 13 Projected ProCane of the Week: TE/Jimmy Graham - Even though the Bears QB situation is in disarray as Chicago continues to hit a skid in their schedule, their opponent, the Lions, are in complete disarray from top to bottom. Marred by injuries and fresh off firing their head coach, Matt Patricia, and GM, Bob Quinn, the Lions need to get out of their own way before they make changes on the field. Graham should be good for a handful of receptions and a TD.
