You all know me, and you’re aware of the fact that anytime a player enters the transfer portal I automatically want him to come to the Hurricanes. Well, that time has come again, and I have a new player that Miami needs to target and land; wide receiver Rico Bussey Jr. from North Texas.
North Texas WR Rico Bussey Jr. has entered the transfer portal, @TheAthleticCFB has learned. Grad transfer put up 1,017 receiving yards and 12 TDs in 2018.

Last week, I published an article on how the Canes were interested in WR Tarik Black from Michigan who’s also in the portal, though I've been iffy on him and wasn’t sold on Miami going after the former Wolverine.
However, with Bussey, it’s different. I think the Hurricanes absolutely need to go after Bussey and bring him to Coral Gables.

The difference between Black and Bussey is production. Black has just two touchdowns and 500 receiving yards in his career. Bussey on the other hand, just in 2018 alone, caught 12 touchdowns to go along with 1,017 yards receiving and 68 catches.

Though he was injured most of the 2019 season, Bussey could be a real provider for the Hurricanes offense this upcoming year. Also, he’ll be immediately eligible to play in 2020. Bussey showed at North Texas a combination of great speed and also the ability to go up and be aggressive for the football.

Bussey is a former two-star recruit out of Lawton, Oklahoma. It should be noted, Bussey is following OC Rhett Lashlee and offensive assistant Kyle Cooper on Twitter. At North Texas, Bussey’s offensive coordinator was Graham Harrell, so he’d most likely already be familiar with some of the air-raid concepts Lashlee will run at Miami.

Other schools that could potentially be interested in Bussey is Texas, Washington, Mississippi State, just to name a few.
