Bubba Chandler is a prototypical framed quarterback at 6’4” who shoulders the North Oconee Titans in Georgia. (Atlas reference) This dual sport athlete wants to also play baseball in college and like Ricky Vaughn, Bubba can bring you the heater.
With recent Miami targets recently off the board (Aaron McLaughlin NC State, Dematrius Davis Jr. Auburn, Garrett Nussmeier LSU) Rhett Lashlee offered Chandler and with good reason. This one time former Georgia baseball commit has opened things up and absolutely has the skill set to play QB at the next level.
Chandler amassed 31 total touchdowns last year including 27 surgical air strikes. There is a really calm re-fineness to his game. Just a smooth effortless deliverer of the football who doesn’t come across on film like a huge long windup baseball thrower.
With the recent success of NFL baseball hybrid types to include particularly Patrick Mahomes, you also see some off platform capability from Chandler. Just another routine quickly turned double play ball of the 1-6-3 variety.
Chandler’s ability to stay tall in the pocket, have particularly good head discipline and command his offense was evident. Chandler also has the ability to keep teams honest in the run game as a zone read capable quarterback.
Student of the Game is a video series exclusively for The State of The U faithful. At this point you know the drill. Popcorn and pencils. We learn as we say “Ooh and Ahh!” The Hurricanes still don’t have a quarterback commit for 2021 but that won’t stop us from trying.
