Last summer, offensive tackle Issiah Walker was one of the main targets for the Hurricanes when it came to recruiting. Out of Norland High School in South Florida, Walker seemed like a perfect fit for Miami, though he chose the Florida Gators instead. However, it was announced on Monday that Walker, the former 4-star recruit, would be entering his name into the transfer portal.

I always believed Walker would end up a Hurricane, and while it didn’t happen initially, now could be that time to make it happen. As a tackle on the offensive line, Walker possesses great athleticism for the position, and was one of the top prospects out of the state of Florida in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

As the Hurricanes continue to try and build their offensive line for the future, Walker fits right into that conversation and solution. Walker would join fellow true freshman and offensive lineman Jalen Rivers, and the Canes already have three solid OL committed in the 2021 class, Michael McLaughlin, Ryan Rodriguez and Laurence Seymore.

Walker was a frequent visitor at the Miami campus during his recruitment process, and if UM goes after him now that he’s in the portal, Walker could be a key to the Canes success going forward.
