On Saturday evening, the Miami Hurricanes made a major move in the 2021 recruiting class by adding 4-star WR Romello Brinson back into this year’s recruiting class.
Brinson announced live on Instagram (so the tweet embed will come later).
A talented 6’2” 180lb playmaker, Brinson stars at local powerhouse Miami (FL) Northwestern HS. Brinson, who was formerly committed to Miami, is the latest player from the powerhouse program to pick Miami. He joins teammates TE Khalil Brantley and OLB Ja’Corey Hammett in committing to Miami in this year’s recruiting class. And, if you didn’t know, Miami Northwestern has long be a program from which the Hurricanes have drawn elite players in years past.
For Brinson, his 2nd recruitment — the one that has occurred since he decommitted from Miami — has been a journey. Immediately after his decommitment in November, top national programs such as Clemson, Auburn, USC, and Georgia offered the talented wideout. And that’s not even considering teams like Alabama and LSU, which had previously offered him along the path of his initial recruitment.
Simply put, Brinson is a MASSIVE get for Miami. He’s a consensus 4-star recruit, number 21 WR in this class, number 25 overall in the State of Florida, number 132 in the Country as per the 247sports composite. That’s rare air, no matter the year.
And, moreover, this is a win over elite national recruiting programs for a player from Miami’s back yard, one that hails from a longtime pipeline program for the Canes, at a position of need both in this class and for the roster moving forward. Again, the impact of this commitment cannot be overstated. Absolute home run for Miami.
Brinson committed to Miami over a named finalists Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M. He also held offers from Clemson, Auburn, Louisville, Florida, USC, Penn State, and others. Brinson finished his junior season with 43 catches for 834 yards and 8 TDs for Miami Northwestern.
Brinson is the 16th player to commit to Miami in the 2021 recruiting class. He joins 4-star Jacolby George at Receiver in this class. And, as previously stated, Brinson is the 3rd player from Miami Northwestern in this class, joining teammates Khalil Brantley and Ja’Corey Hammett in this group.
