Miami Needs To Land Jake Garcia

Can Miami possibly flip the highly-rated quarterback?

247Sports

While the Hurricanes have been absolutely killing it in recruiting lately, there’s still one player that Miami needs to make a push for, and that’s quarterback Jake Garcia. The 4-star QB out of California is someone who Canes fans are very familiar with, as Miami has been recruiting him for a while now.

Last year, Garcia made his way down to Miami, and the Hurricanes seemed to be in the drivers seat, until he committed to USC in September. However, with the Trojans adding fellow 4-star QB Miller Moss, Garcia could possibly open his recruitment back up.

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Garcia ever since Miami started talking to him, and really do believe he’s the kind of talent at quarterback that can change a program. Standing at 6”2, Garcia has a rocket for an arm, as well as incredible accuracy. As a junior, Garcia threw for 2,301 yards and 25 touchdowns, while completing 70% of his passes.

While he’s ranked as the 4th-best pro-style quarterback by 247Sports, Garcia is much more athletic than he’s given credit for, having the ability to make throws out of the pocket. He also possesses the patience needed in a quarterback, and has great touch on downfield passes.

Garcia had a good relationship with former Miami offensive coordinator Dan Enos, and Manny Diaz has continued to stay in contact with Jake. In January, new OC Rhett Lashlee made his way out to California to visit Garcia.

With Miami not having a quarterback committed in their 2021 class, and especially with Moss going to USC, the Hurricanes need to make a move at Garcia. Like I said earlier, he’s the kind of talent and leader that can change a program.
