In a mild shock based on the past, but not a shock based on the way things have been currently trending, Plantation (FL) American Heritage 5-star S James Williams included the Miami Hurricanes in his “final 2” schools. Miami made the cut, along with Georgia.

Where Should He Go?
Let Me Know!

(Fawcett’s tweet does not reflect Williams’s already-announced transfer back to American Heritage)
Williams is a rare player at the Safety position. At 6’5” 220lbs, he is MASSIVE for the position, but moves like a much smaller player. He’s got size, instincts, physical development, speed, ball skills, length, range. So, basically, the prototype at Safety. That’s James Williams.
In his previously-released top 3, Miami was absent from the list, one that included Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia. However, that has not deterred Miami from continuing to recruit Williams like the priority recruit he is, and that consistent contact and recent recruiting momentum has vaulted Miami back into the picture, as evidenced by today’s Final 2 announcement.
Yes, there’s a long way to go. Yes, Miami has lost out on several top DBs to Georgia (read: Tyrique Stevenson, Divaad Wilson) (and other schools) in recent years.
BUT.
Making the move back up into the Final 2 for a top 10 player in the 2021 recruiting class can only be viewed as a good thing.
And now, it’s time to win. Both games on the field. And this recruiting battle.
Much more on Miami Hurricanes recruiting in the coming days.
