Following the Miami Hurricanes practice on Tuesday, the last interview the media had, was with quarterback D’Eriq King.
Talking about the scrimmage on Sunday, King mentioned how he got teary eyed right before kickoff. “It was my first game without my dad.”
Overall, King was pleased with how the first scrimmage went.
“I think it was a good scrimmage a couple days ago, but we have to keep building,” King told the media.
King finished the scrimmage with 4 touchdowns through the air, completing 15-of-26 passes.
When asked which defensive players stood out to him, King noted safeties Gurvan Hall Jr. and Bubba Bolden immediately, saying that they, “made things difficult on the back end for me.”
"I think it was a good scrimmage. We need to be more consistent. Some defensive players that stood out was both of the safeties (Gurvan Hall and Bubba Bolden)" https://t.co/p1fRcwW8NI

Talking about the offense and who he’s been playing well with, King was quick with his first answer, before naming several more receivers.
“Mike Harley and I have a good connection on the field,” King said. Mike Harley Jr. hauled in two touchdowns during Sunday’s scrimmage.
King also mentioned Mark Pope, Dee Wiggins and Xavier Restrepo for players he’s connecting with.
He also touched on the offensive line, and how they’re coming together.
“I think we have a lot of depth on the o-line. I think it takes time to fully get it there, but I think they had a really, really good scrimmage.”
Near the end, King was asked about how he’s connecting with offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
“He’s a great offensive coordinator,” King said. “He calls great plays and obviously the tempo is a big help.”
Biggest takeaway for me, was King expressing his gratitude, and just seeing the pure excitement he has for playing at Miami.
"I've been enjoying myself out here. I have no regrets. I'm excited to be a Cane." https://t.co/p1fRcwW8NI
