Storm Center: the calm before the storm

One more day until Miami and FSU renew their annual rivalry.

Good morning, and happy Friday, everyone.

One more day, and we will be waking up to a College Gameday morning live from Miami, which will preview an increased slate of games that includes the first week of SEC play. All in all, I’m geeked. It won’t be David-Pollack-diving-in-the-pool-in-2017-type of wacky, but it’s always nice to have the biggest pregame show in sports focusing on your game.

Around State of the U:

Justin Dottavio gives a film preview of the game.

Cameron Underwood gives us a position by position look at the starters for both teams and opines on who would start if you combined the rosters.

John Michaels gives us his matchup to watch.

Our staff weighs on in the second part of questions regarding FSU-Miami (if you missed part one, here it is).

Around the web:

College Football News has their Miami-FSU fearless prediction, with them pointing at the teams’ substantially different offensive lines as a factor.

Over at Tomahawk Nation, they put up some advanced analytics comparing Miami and FSU (spoiler; we’re better).

Chip Patterson of CBS Sports previews the game, while noting Miami should set realistic expectations for this season (he says we’re saying the U is back, but I don’t know of ANY Miami backers who have uttered those silly words yet).

That’s it. Enjoy your day, and Go Canes!
