Miami picked 6th in ACC Preseason Media Poll

ACC media skeptical of Canes heading into 2020 season

On Friday Morning, the ACC released the preseason Media Poll and All-Conference teams.

In this poll, the Miami Hurricanes were picked 6th in the ACC this season. The Canes were picked behind Virginia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Notre Dame (an ACC member for this season only), and the overwhelming favorites — Clemson.

While some may push back on this, I thin kit makes sense at present. Miami has been a team that routinely underachieves with the elite level of talent on the roster, and while things have been changed to hopefully make Miami win to a level that’s seldom been seen recently, there’s no guarantee that will happen. And that’s how you end up picked 6th in the preseason.

Also included in the release is the preseason All-ACC team. And, there was only one player picked on this team heading into the 2020 season: TE Brevin Jordan.

A junior from Las Vegas, Jordan is the best tight end in America, and fully deserving of this pick. There were no other Canes on the preseason All-ACC team — remember, star DE Gregory Rousseau opted out of this season but would surely have been on this list as well — so someone (or multiple someones) will have to earn their way onto the list for the postseason All-ACC team based upon a breakout season for the Canes this year.

We’ll see how things shake out starting on Thursday night when the Canes open their season against the UAB Blazers.
