The Hurricanes will also take on FIU, FAU, and FGCU in mid-week series throughout the season. Miami will play those games as home-and-home series with each opponent. There are just eight mid-week games on the schedule and they begin three weeks into the season, on March 9, when the Hurricanes take on FAU at Mark Light Field. That gives the Hurricanes rotation time to settle in before Gino DiMare picks a fourth starter.
Miami’s final non-conference series of the year takes place on May 7-9 when the Hurricanes take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers. That series should serve as a way for Miami to prepare for the final few weeks of the season, which could be some of their toughest, as the Hurricanes finish off with weekend series against No.15 Georgia Tech and No.5 Louisville.
Overall, the Hurricanes are scheduled to play 50 games during the 2021 season. It will also be the first time since 1997 that Miami begins the season on the road. Miami also plays 26 games at home and 24 on the road, a much more even split than the past several seasons. Additionally, the Hurricanes will play seven teams ranked in D1Baseball’s preseason poll which could make this one of the toughest schedules for Miami in recent memory.
After the regular season the ACC has scheduled the ACC Tournament to begin on May 25. Miami will visit Florida on February 19 to start their season as UF opens their new ballpark.
