D’Eriq King is done for the season. Manny Diaz announced this morning on his weekly hit on 560 WQAM that Miami’s senior quarterback would need surgery on his shoulder that will end his season.
Manny Diaz just told us on @JoeRoseShow @560WQAM that D'Eriq King will have surgery and its Tyler Van Dykes team for the rest of the season@CanesFootball

It’s a brutally-tough blow for a guy who’s faced such adversity and fought through so much to arrive to what should have been a prodigious final season. The knee injury during the bowl game last season was downright depressing, but King fought back from that like a warrior and was ready to roll week 1. King became a national face and leader in the new NIL era, inking multiple deals. It seemed he was on his way to national stardom this year.
Now...this. I don’t know if this is the end or not for King at Miami, but regardless of what he does next year, I know he’s gonna be good with in his future endeavors. He’s too bright and talented not to. If this is indeed it, then thank you D’Eriq for your commitment to the University of Miami and the exciting performances you gave us. Once a Cane, always a Cane.
As for the Canes, as Diaz said, it’s now Tyler Van Dyke’s team. He’s got huge shoes to fill, but he showed he has the upside to do it in the second half against the Virginia Cavaliers.
Go Canes!
