ProCanes Week Six Highlights and NFL Week Seven Preview

KJ Osborn Walks it Off for the Vikings as Denzel Perryman Continues his Tackling Parade

Week Six ProCane of the Week: WR/KJ Osborn - (six receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown) Osborn has been the epitome of hard work paying off and proved to be a quality target for Kirk Cousins this past week in overtime as he secured a walk-off touchdown followed by a tough celebration. From a late round pick last year to earning the return duties last year as a rookie, Osborn now is a more-than-reliable option as the third receiver behind Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson.

Even though he only played a year at the U as a transfer from Buffalo, his work ethic is a testament to the recent lineage of gritty slot receivers at Miami such as Braxton Berrios and Mike Harley. The extra hours at the JUGS machine are proving to pay dividends, and hopefully can be continued with the young crop of Canes’ wideouts.

ProCanes Week Six Highlights:

Another ProCane scored a touchdown for the Vikings as tight end, Chris Herndon, secured a score on a two-yard catch. Herndon has been relatively quiet this year but could gain more attention in the red zone in a weak tight end room. Sticking with the offensive side of the ball, Seahawks running backs, Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas, combined for six rushes for 44 yards and six receptions for 60 yards in an injured Seattle backfield. Wide receiver, Philip Dorsett, has also been elevated to their active roster as the former first-round pick seeks to get back in action after injuries have sidelined him this past year.

On defense, Jaguars safety, Rayshawn Jenkins, tied a career high with 10 tackles as he continues to occupy a key starting role. Raiders linebacker, Denzel Perryman, is now in the NFL lead as he added 12 tackles. Packers linebacker, Jonathan Garvin, tacked on his first full career sack while defensive end, Calais Campbell, had four tackles and one tackle for loss.

Besides the Bears punter, Pat O’Donnell, there have not been any other kickers on an active NFL roster - until this past week when Michael Badgley earned a role with the Colts as he went perfect on the day (4/4 XP, 1/1 FG). Bucs kicker, Jose Borregales, has been on the practice squad all season. The Bucs have protected him on a weekly basis, meaning no team can pick him up. If Tampa fails to protect him, Borregales could be picked up quickly considering a lot of teams’ kicking woes this season.

Week Seven Projected ProCane of the Week: WR/Braxton Berrios - Berrios was drafted by the Patriots and subsequently waived after a season on the injured reserve. As he returns to New England, Berrios could be seeking revenge, as he did in week two against the Pats in New York (seven reception for 11 targets for 73 yards). In that game, rookie quarterback Zach Wilson threw four interceptions so the Jets’ gameplan could be revised to a more conservative approach in an attempt to optimize slot options like Berrios. Similarly, New York could seek to exploit a depleted Patriots’ cornerback room.
