Wake Forest vs Pittsburgh ….just like we all predicted before the season started. Clemson is not good on offense at all. North Carolina and Miami both have failed to live up to preseason expectations. There are no clear cut dominant teams, and truly every week anyone can beat anyone in the conference, but the Panthers and Demon Deacons now control their own way to Charlotte.
Here are your week 8 Power rankings.
1. Wake Forest (7-0) - The offense is nearly unstoppable at this point as they threw up 70 in a win over Army. Next Game Duke
2. Pittsburgh (6-1) - The Panthers got a marquee win, knocking off Clemson 27-17. Kenny Pickett threw for 302 yards and 2 scores in the win. Next Game Miami
3. Virginia (6-2) - The Cavaliers hit the 40 point mark for the 4th time this season in a 48-40 win over Georgia Tech. Next Game @ BYU
4. North Carolina St (5-2) - The Wolfpack had opportunities but fell short in a loss to Miami 31-30. The Pack still have a chance to win the Atlantic. Next Game Louisville
5. Clemson (4-3) - The Tigers were so bad on offense that former Heisman candidate DJU was benched during a 27-17 loss to Pitt. Next Game FSU
6. Louisville (4-3) - Malik Cunningham rushed for 3 scores in a 28-14 win over Boston College. Next Game @ NC St
7. North Carolina (4-3) - The Tar Heels enjoyed a bye week to get ready for the stretch run. Next Game Notre Dame
8. Miami (3-4) - Tyler Van Dyke backed up his trash talk with a 4 touchdown performance in a 31-30 win over NC St. Next Game @ Pittsburgh
9. Florida St (3-4) - The Noles had a bye week, but will look to try and become bowl eligible over the next few weeks. Next Game @ Clemson
10. Syracuse (4-4) - If nothing else, the Orange are fighting hard every week. Garrett Schrader accounted for 5 TDs in the win over VT. Next Game Boston College
11. Virginia Tech (3-4) - The Hokies are another offensively challenged team, and Justin Fuente is feeling the Heat. Fell 41-36 to Syracuse Next Game @ Georgia Tech
12. Georgia Tech (3-4) - The Jackets have yet to win back to back games in the Geoff Collins era. The defense was torched by Virginia. Next Game Virginia Tech
13. Boston College (4-3) - The Eagles are lost without their starting QB. Next Game @ Syracuse
14. Duke (3-4) - The Blue Devils enjoyed a week off before the stretch run. Next Game @ Wake Forest
It was nice to write one of these and the Canes not be at the bottom. There could be more shake up this upcoming week with many key conference matchups.
