One of the biggest recruiting storylines to follow at the moment if you’re a Hurricanes fan, is that of 4-star quarterback Jacurri Brown. The Georgia QB is set to make his announcement on March 26th, and Miami feels that they’re in a good place with the dual-threat signal caller.

Brown is rated by 247 Sports as the #5 Dual Threat QB in the class of 2022, #20 player in Georgia and #167 2022 player nationally.
As a junior, Brown threw for 1,537 yards and 14 touchdowns, and was just as effective running the football, rushing for 1,101 yards and 16 touchdowns. In three years, Brown has rushed for 44 scores.
Strong arm, Brown threw for 1,537 yards and 14 touchdowns. Does need to work on his accuracy, but after a few years could turn into a very good college QB. https://t.co/7GqEyXNf5U pic.twitter.com/GzArRClJvu

Most of the criticism for Brown comes down to him as a passer, and he;s been inconsistent at times throwing the football. Last year, he completed under 50% of his passes while throwing 7 interceptions. No doubt, Brown has a very strong arm, with beautiful touch on his deep passes.

The upside to Brown is that he’s a tremendous athlete, and elite when he has the ball in his hands. Standing at 6”4 and weighing 205 pounds, Brown is incredibly hard to bring down when running. The next part of his game will be transitioning him from a dynamic runner, and combining that with becoming an elite passer.

When it comes to Rhett Lashlee’s offense and the system he runs at Miami, I think Brown would benefit greatly. If you look at what the Canes did on offense last season, a lot of the success came because of what D’Eriq King was able to do with his legs. If Brown was to run that type of offense, while improving on his throwing ability, his upside could be huge.
Had a great time competing @Pylon7on7. Its always good for me to showcase my progress. Back to the lab grinding and proving doubters wrong. @DOMXsports @Andrew_Ivins @247Sports @ChadSimmons_ @Rivals @LHSvikingsFB pic.twitter.com/Tfdnew4TZa

Like I said earlier, Brown is announcing where he’ll be attending on March 26th, but even better than that, he’ll be visiting Miami this weekend.

At the end of the day, yes, Brown is a project at the quarterback position. It will take time to develop him into a college QB, but when that time comes, I believe he can bring a very high level of excitement to the position, and hopefully, the Miami offense.
