The Miami Hurricanes went 0-2 at the ACC Tournament after a 6-3 loss to the Florida State Seminoles on Friday afternoon. The loss dropped Miami’s record against their rival to 0-4 for the season and made the Hurricanes’ overall record 32-19.

Florida State got out to a quick start in the top of the first inning. A walk and two singles with one-out for FSU scored the first run of the game. Miami starter Jake Garland got a strikeout for the second out of the inning, but a two-run double extended FSU’s lead and made the score 3-0 after one inning.

Miami fought back to get within one run in the second and fourth innings. The second saw Christian Del Castillo score on a wild pitch, while in the fourth Ray Gil hit a solo home run to make the score 3-2 after four innings.

Florida State extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning. Three straight singles opened the inning and scored FSU’s first run of the frame. An error loaded the bases for FSU before a sac-fly scored the Seminoles’ second run of the frame. Fortunately for Miami Alejandro Rosario struck out the next two batters to get Miami out of the inning.

FSU extended the lead further in the ninth inning with a solo home run to left-field off of Miami closer Carson Palmquist, the second home run Palmquist has allowed in as many days. Miami scored a run in the ninth inning off of a fielder’s choice after loading the bases, but Anthony Vilar struck out to end the game before the Hurricanes could come back.

The Hurricanes now wait to see where they will travel to play in the NCAA Tournament on Monday afternoon. Miami will most likely be a two seed in the tournament and could travel to Gainesville as part of Florida’s regional.
