CB Khamauri Rogers headlines a big weekend for Miami

Welcome to another weekend of Official Visits, recruiting fans! Your Miami Hurricanes are hosting another round of visitors in the pursuit of building the 2022 recruiting class with top end talent. No, there haven’t been any commitments, on visit or otherwise, but these visits are crucial for the players to come to a decision, and for the Canes to continue the process of building a championship caliber roster.

With no further ado, let’s look at the list of players taking visits to Miami this weekend.

Official Visitors

Miami (FL) Central 4-star LB Wesley Bissainthe. Miami’s #1 target at Linebacker, Bissainthe is a big time local prospect. He’s fresh off a reportedly good visit to West Virginia, so Miami should do everything in their power to make this visit as good as possible.

Lexington (MS) Holmes County 4-star CB Khamauri Rogers. Miami’s #1 target at Cornerback, Rogers is back on campus for the 2nd time in 3 weeks after having attended the 1st day out cookout on June 1st. Miami has been trending up strongly for Rogers in recent weeks, so much so that the Canes are widely viewed as the favorites in this recruitment. I’d love

Orlando (FL) Evans 4-star S Markeith Williams. A blue chip DB from the same HS that STRIKERS coach Ishmael Aristide attended some years ago, Williams is a high caliber athlete that could fit in Miami’s secondary well. He’s a bit thin at this point of his development, but that’s not enough to keep him from being a take, if he wants in this class at some point. Beware Ohio State, Alabama, and Nebraska in this recruitment.

Orlando (FL) Boone 4-star ATH JaCorey Thomas. A multi-talented player, Thomas could fit in many places on a college roster. A two-way player in HS, Thomas is likely an in the box Safety at the college level. Florida and Georgia are among the other teams pursuing Thomas, and this visit will go a long way to telling the story of his recruitment in total.

Scottsdale (AZ) Chaparral 4-star DL Anthony Lucas. A blue chip lineman who figures to kick inside to DT full-time in college, Lucas will be making his way across the country from Arizona to Miami for this visit. Notre Dame, Alabama, Oregon and Texas A&M are other schools he has or will take official visits to, so there’s plenty of competition (and more than those teams, even) for Lucas’s commitment.

Maumelle (AR) 4-star OT Andrew Chamblee. This Arkansas commit is a player that Miami OL coach Garin Justice only recently offered (on June 10th) and moved quickly to get on campus for an OV this weekend. Chamblee has great size at 6’6” 285lbs and is a prototypical OT prospect. We’ll see if this recent push yields any movement here.

Mandeville (LA) 3-star WR Landon Ibieta. A 6’1” 185lb playmaker, Ibieta might not be the tallest or highest ranked receiver in the country, but what he does on a consistent basis is make plays. He recently received rave reviews for his performance at an LSU camp, so his profile is starting to rise. Let’s see if Miami is able to make a move here with a player they offered before some other power teams did.

Lakeland (FL) 3-star DL Keahnist Thompson. A two-way player (DE and TE) in HS, Thompson is being recruited by Miami (and others) on defense. UCF and Texas have and will get OVs from Thompson, respectively. Anecdotally, I’m not very excited about this OV because I can’t remember the last time Miami got a player from Lakeland (either LHS or Kathleen) on the roster. But, streaks end and things change. So maybe Thompson is the player that breaks the streak?

Donaldsville (GA) Seminole County 3-star CB Nick Cull. An interesting prospect with a diverse offer list including Miami, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, and Ole Miss, Cull is a bit of an under the radar prospect who Miami could try to make a move on this weekend.

Away Games

A quick look at Miami targets taking visits elsewhere this weekend.

5-star DT Bear Alexander - USC. One of the best prospects in the country, Alexander continues his tour of the country following his Georgia decommitment.

4-star WR Jayden Gibson - Baylor.

4-star OT Malik Agbo - Oklahoma. After canceling his OV to LSU last weekend (which can only be seen as a good thing for Miami), Agbo will visit Oklahoma, arguably the preeminent offensive program in the country, this weekend. The vibes between Agbo and Miami are strong, but this visit could change that. Or not. Stay tuned.

5-star S Kamari Wilson - LSU. One of the best safeties in this class, Wilson has his pick of any elite program in the country he wants. This weekend, he’ll be getting a closer look at LSU, a team that has had great success with DBs in recent years. Wilson is the headliner of a deep, diverse group of visitors (several more of whom you’ll read about in the next couple of paragraphs).

4-star CB Chris Graves - LSU. Graves has seen interest from plenty of P5 teams of late, LSU being at the top of the list. A team that has a strong history of developing DBs, this is a visit to pay attention to ahead of his July commitment date.

4-star DE Nyjalik Kelly - LSU. The former FSU commit Kelly is enjoying his new, improved recruiting profile and continues his OV tour by joining the large group of priority targets at LSU this weekend.

4-star LB DeMario Tolan - LSU. Yet another blue chip target heading down to Baton Rouge this weekend.

3-star WR Quan Lee - UCF. The Miami commit said he was shutting down his recruitment, but is listed as taking an OV to Orlando (right down the road from his home in Gainesville) this weekend. Recruiting is great, isn’t it?!

3-star TE Kaden Helms - Oklahoma. Arguably the biggest contender outside of Miami for the talented TE’s commitment is OU, so this visit is definitely one worth watching.

3-star DB Jordan Allen - Penn State. One of Miami’s top DB targets, Allen continues his OV tour by heading up to Happy Valley.

3-star OL Daughtry Richardson - Kentucky. Fresh off a Thursday unofficial visit to Miami, Richardson is taking another one of his OVs, this time to Kentucky.

Wrapping Up

Just some quick housekeeping: previously listed players Anthony Jones, Sherrod Covil, and Beau Atkinson have since committed to Texas, Clemson, and North Carolina, respectively.

Visits are heating up. And remember, Recruiting Rule #6: Follow the Visits.

Remember to vote in the poll, and let’s chat about your favorite prospects in the comments section, as well.
