It is no secret that Miami needs talent and athleticism in the linebacker room, and the 6’1” 210lb Medlock brings both traits with him from Texas to Coral Gables. Medlock also comes from an athletic family: his father played linebacker at Texas A&M, and his brother plays tight end at UConn.
Medlock has already demonstrated his skills on the field to great success. He was 1st team all district as a sophomore in 2019 after exploding on the scene with 117 tackles for Manvel, and on track for a similar performance as a junior but missed 8 games due to a knee injury last fall.
If the name of the HS sounds familiar, there’s a good reason: Miami’s starting QB D’Eriq King once starred at Manvel before moving on to the college level. Manvel is also one of the premier programs in the State of Texas, so Medlock is coming from a program that does a great job winning at the HS level, and developing prospects for the college level as well.
Medlock committed to Miami over offers from Arizona State and Arkansas from a list of 30 scholarship offers. Medlock is the 6th player to commit to Miami’s 2022 recruiting class. He joins QB Jacurri Brown, WR Landon Ibieta, OT Falentha Carswell, and CBs Khaumari Rogers and Chris Graves in this class.
