Week Two College Football Lines and Picks

After a solid 4-2-1 week to start the season, it’s time to take a look at Week 2’s lines and make some picks. Again, all lines courtesy of VegasInsider.com. For whatever reason, the road favorites look tempting this week.....

Florida (-28) at USF. The Gators should be covering this by the half. The disparity in talent is a chasm. Lock of the week.

Pitt (-3) at Tennessee. The Vols struggled mightily in the first half against a dreadful Bowling Green squad. UT QB Joe Milton has not impressed at all early. That doesn’t start this weekend against a solid Panther defense.

BONUS: Pitt at Tennessee; under 56.5. Tennessee’s offense is too sporadic to score consistently, while Pitt isn’t the big play offense I’d expect to see light up the scoreboard quickly. The Panthers will score, but it’ll be time-consuming drives that help keep the score lower than expected.

Rutgers (-2) at Syracuse. Good lord, am I really taking Rutgers? On the road? I am. Greg Schiano’s team thrashed Temple last week, while Syracuse slogged by Ohio. I think Rutgers wins outright, so I’ll lay 2.

Purdue (-34) at Connecticut. I honestly don’t know if I’ve seen a division one team that’s worse than this year’s UConn squad. They look like they’ve given up already, aside from looking overmatched physically. Purdue covers this easily.

App State (+9) at Miami. Look, I’m picking Miami to win, so don’t get mad, but this game could be close. Miami is still a mess on the offensive line, so I have my doubts about being able to take advantage in the run game.

Ball State at Penn State (-22.5). The Nittany Lions were downright nasty on defense last week in their upset win at Wisconsin, while the offense left points on the board. I think the latter will explode for plenty this week, while the defense puts up another dominating performance.
