Week 1 ProCane of the Week: LB/Denzel Perryman - After an offseason filled with many relocating out of California to other new trendy places, Denzel Perryman moved not once, but twice, during his first year in the free agency market. Perryman left the Los Angeles Chargers after a 48-tackle season, where he also impressed with an 83.3 PFF Grade. He was initially picked up by the Carolina Panthers but was shortly thereafter traded to the Las Vegas Raiders.
In his welcome to sin city, which was quite a bizarre game against the Baltimore Ravens in Monday Night Football, Perryman was one tackle shy of his career high, as he finished the evening with 10 tackles on 54 defensive snaps, as well as one fumble recovery. Perryman has developed into a reliable middle backer in run stops, and can also pack on quite the punch as a “thumper”-type LB who is not afraid to lay the hit stick. As a co-starter, the former second round pick will look to continue the momentum as the season progresses.
MLB Denzel Perryman is an instinctive run defender. Look at how quick he reads his keys, sees pulling RG, and isn't afraid to meet him in the hole. Abram is force defender, maintains proper leverage. Littleton fills, makes tackle. Sound, fundamental defense.#RaiderNation pic.twitter.com/yeph6neIxv

ProCanes Week 1 Highlights:
Sticking with a former Charger who left LA this offseason, Jaguars safety and new captain, Rayshawn Jenkins, picked up right where he left off in 2020 as he stuffed the stat sheet compiling six tackles, one PD, one QBHit, one TFL. Jenkins carved out a role as a starter last year with the Chargers in star Safety, Derwin James’ absence, and is off to 2021 on the right foot in Jacksonville.

Despite getting cut by the Browns and Patriots, respectively, before the season started, safeties Sheldrick Redwine and Adrian Colbert tallied eight totals tackles for the Jets in the season opener. Fringe starters, Al-Quadin Muhammad (Colts) and Shaquille Quarterman (Jaguars) strung together three tackles a piece.
Flipping to the offensive side of the ball, fan favorite and Jets WR, Braxton Berrios, put together five receptions for 51 yards, despite being a part of a slot-heavy New York WR corps which expects to get Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole back this week. Another hard-working Vikings slot receiver, KJ Osborn, put up career highs with seven receptions for 76 yards. Next, tight end, David Njoku, had a nice day with three receptions for 76 yards. Njoku, who had a turbulent 2020, also had a 74.4 pass blocking grade, which is 9th best in the league.
Despite placing five rookies into the NFL in 2021, only two were active - Jaelan Phillips (Dolphins - 22 defensive snaps) and Gregory Rousseau (Bills - two tackles) - and they coincidentally square off in week two right back home in Miami. According to NextGenStats, Phillips had the fourth quickest pass rush get-off in 0.70 seconds - Joey Bosa leading the league in week one at 0.51 seconds.
Well documented already by other but Chuks had an extremely uninspiring performance yesterday.

Nice play here by Gregory Rousseau. Some power off the ball, able to peak back inside and make the stop on Harris. Rookie showing well early. pic.twitter.com/04K2YF88uj
In the trenches, Washington’s Ereck Flowers, Jacksonville’s Brandon Linder, and Buffalo’s Jon Feliciano, all played 100% of the offensive snaps for their teams in week one.
Week 2 Projected ProCane of the Week: WR/KJ Osborn - If you’re looking for a last minute fantasy football pickup, look no further than the former ProCane with the make-it attitude. Osborn wasted no time in week one in setting career high in both receptions and receiving yards, as the former two-star recruit looks to continue to write his underdog story. Both categories were not only career highs, but his first career receptions and yards.
The Vikings have a strong dynamic duo in Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, but Osborn looks like the heavy favorite to occupy the third spot on the depth chart. Also, as an extra for Canes’ fans, Osborn could see some reps against rookie DB and former Florida Gator/infamous shoe-tosser, Marco Wilson.
Makes one man miss.
