We’re back for another week of Miami Hurricanes Men’s and Women’s Basketball. The guys beat La Salle at home on Saturday afternoon. The ladies also played on Saturday, losing to #10 Baylor on the road.

Last week:

I recapped Miami’s 84-77 over La Salle. Here are some short sentences providing more detail. The game was closer than it should’ve been. The Canes’ offense looked better: more movement, better shot selection. The defense is still an issue. Wooga is for real and should only gain more confidence as the season goes. Omier looks awesome when he’s not in foul trouble. Kyshawn George continues to impress off the bench. I’m anxious for ACC play.

Miami fell out of today’s AP Top 25 Poll, despite winning their one game last week. Whatever. The Canes will probably need to win their first two ACC matchups against Clemson and Wake Forest to return to the rankings.

The Lady Canes fell to #10 Baylor in Waco, TX on Saturday afternoon. Shayeann Day-Wilson led the way with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Miami got down early and couldn’t recover. They were outscored 25-16 in the first quarter and 24-17 in the second quarter. Their shots weren’t falling all game long: 22-63 from the field, 35%, including 3-16 from three-point range, 19%. Coach Meier’s squad was unable to get the signature December win they were looking for. Two more games until ACC play.

This week:

The guys host Stonehill on Thursday, 12/21 at 8:00 PM EST. The game will be televised on ACC Network. The Skyhawks are 2-11, but are coming off a 27-point win over Hartford.

The Lady Canes host Jackson State on Wednesday, 12/20 at 7:00 PM EST. The game will be televised on ACC Network Extra. The Tigers are 5-4, but have lost three games in a row to Power 5 schools.
