According to CBSsports.com, former Texas Shooting Guard Sheldon McClellan is considering the following schools for transfer:
Texas transfer Sheldon McClellan told CBSSports that he is looking at Marquette, Oregon, Illinois, Miami and Fresno.
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanCBS) April 24, 2013
This past season for the Longhorns, McClellan averaged 13.5 points on 38% shooting (27% from beyond the arc), 4 rebounds and 1 assist per game in 27 minutes. The 6'4", 185 pound guard from Houston, Texas was ranked as a 4* recruit out of high school by Rivals.
At the present time, the Canes only have 9 scholarship players, with the potential to lose one more pending Shane Larkin's decision. McClellan would provide solid scoring presumably off the bench for the Canes, and would compete for minutes with fellow newcomers Davon Reed and DeAndre Burnett if he were to choose the Canes.
McClellan would be forced to sit out the 2013-14 season, per NCAA transfer rules. He would have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in the 2014-15 season.
