BREAKING: Harlond Beverly Commits to Miami, per Tweet

The 2019 guard makes his pledge to the Hurricanes

The Jim Larrañaga and the Miami Hurricanes landed another 2019 commit when Montverde Academy combo guard Harlond Beverly made a pledge to the ‘Canes.

Beverly is the No. 82 player in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, who is originally from Southfield, Michigan.

Some things to know about Beverly.

  • At 6-4, 170 pounds, he can bring both length and athleticism to the team.
  • He joined Montverde Acadamy’s team for his senior season in high school.
  • The four-star recruit led his team to a runner-up finish at the Geico High School Nationals, falling to IMG Academy in the finals.
  • He jumped into the top 100 after his season season at Montverde and is considered a late gem in the recruiting cycle.

Beverly picked UM over Georgia, Baylor, and Indiana, among other schools interested as well.

But he picked Miami largely because of one reason, he told 247Sports: “Coach (Jim) Larranaga is an all-time great coach. He has a great track record of developing guards of my stature. Also, after I visited it just felt like some, so I felt Miami was the best place for me.”

Beverly joins 2019 commits Isaiah Wong and Anthony Walker in coming to Coral Gables, after Miami’s mention in the FBI college basketball scandal kept Larrañaga and company from attracting a prospect in the 2018 class. With Beverly’s commitment, UM now has the No. 25 class in the current recruiting cycle, also good for No. 4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
