The Miami Hurricanes have released the non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Opening the non-ACC slate for UM will be a game against the Florida Atlantic Owls, with a 7 p.m. tipoff at the Watsco Center on November 8. The Canes will hit the road after the game against FAU to take on the Central Florida Knights on November 12, which is part of a home-and-home series with the Knights with a game to be played in Coral Gables in a future season.

A November 16 game against Quinnipiac will be followed by a Thanksgiving tournament in Charleston, SC from November 21-24, with a first round game against Missouri State and a possible second round showdown with the Florida Gators. The Hurricanes then head to Champaign, Illinois to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on December 2nd.

Miami will take 11 days off for Fall semester exams, getting back on the home hardwood on December 14 against Alabama A&M, before traveling to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to take on Temple on December 17. UM finishes up non-conference play on December 21 at the Watsco Center against Coppin State.

Jim Larrañaga’s team will take on two foes who made the NCAA Tournament in 2018-19, with UCF off a Round of 32 loss to Duke and Temple also fresh off a big dance appearance.

A strong non-conference resume will be imperative for the Hurricanes if they wish to return to the field of 68 in 2020. UM was 9-5 in non-league games a season ago.

An ACC game will actually open the season for the Canes on November 5 when they take on the Louisville Cardinals in Coral Gables. The conference expands to 20 league games per team in 2019-20, in departure from its traditional 18-game slate used in prior years.
