The Northeast to South Beach pipeline under Jim Larrañaga has once again proven its muscle. The newest member of UM’s 2021 recruiting class is point guard Bensley Joseph.
Originally from Arlington, MA but currently attending Connecticut’s Putnam Science Academy, Joseph is ranked as the No. 92 overall prospect in the 2021 class as well as the 14th-ranked point guard. He also ranks as Massachusetts’ top-ranked recruit.

Joseph cites Larrañaga’s track record in developing point guards as a pull factor drawing him to Coral Gables. Past Canes including Shane Larkin, Ángel Rodríguez and Chris Lykes offer high potential comparisons for the 6-1 product.

Joseph is described as a floor general, with the ability to dictate an offense through both ball distribution and shooting ability.
He is the first commit of the ‘21 class for the Hurricanes, but he’ll join a talented class of ‘20 that includes G Earl Timberlake, F Matt Cross as well as G Elijah Olaniyi, a transfer from Stoney Brook who will be eligible starting in 2021-22 when Joseph will be on campus.
