ICYMI Butch Davis wants the job

53
Jack Arute: "Do you, Butch Davis, have interest in the University of Miami vacancy?" Butch Davis: "Yeah, Jack, absolutely. I spent 11 years there, Jack, five as an assistant coach and six as a head coach. You can’t invest that kind of time, effort and energy, and being involved in that program, you develop an awful lot of love, you get a chance to work with a lot of amazing kids and coaches in that program. I’ve told people many, many times that just about absolutely everything that I’ve ever been fortunate enough to be involved in and accomplish, from a football perspective, has its roots at the University of Miami. Being a part of Jimmy [Johnson]’s staff as an assistant coach and then going with Jimmy to Dallas and winning the Super Bowls there, and then going back as a head coach. It was unbelievably a labor of love going through the early part of the tenure there and having to navigate through losing 31 scholarships and rebuilding the program and putting it back on track to where at the end [we] got a chance to play for three national championships and stuff. And so, certainly, yeah I would very much like to be a potential candidate for that job." SiriusXM’s College Sports Nation channel

USA Today ranks Miami in their way too early Top 25

+

23. Miami (25-13, 10-8): The Hurricanes will have virtually everyone back from last season's team, including the potent backcourt duo of Angel Rodriguez and Sheldon McClellan. Miami fell on the wrong side of the NCAA tournament bubble in 2014-15, but coach Jim Larrañaga will have one of the most experienced rosters in the ACC next season.

Coach L's classy message to fans

+

A Special Message to UM Alumni from Coach Larranaga................... Coach Jim Larranaga................... To UM Alumni and Canes Fans, On behalf of our coaching staff and players, I want to thank YOU for providing our team with energy last night in a packed house at Madison Square Garden. Without your support, our team never would have been able to mount the comeback we did and force overtime against Stanford. Even though we came up short, your support - the thousands of fans wearing orange & green and cheering, "Let’s Go Canes!" during crunch time - is something our team will never forget. You provided us energy, and you gave us the boost we needed to give us a chance to win. The coaching staff is proud of our players, and you made us proud to represent the University of Miami last night. Jim Larrañaga
