Trayone Gray
Athlete - 6'2 195 - Miami, Fl (Carol City H.S.)
The first concern with Gray is, Will he qualify??? It is getting to be nail bitingly close to NO, considering how late in the game it is. But Miami is expecting it to happen. We'll be sure to update one way or another when anything is official.
In case you were wondering: Asked yesterday about ATH Trayone Gray. UM still expects him to be there for camp, but no further update. Yet.

Let's assume Gray gets in. This is a kid who played QB/RB/WR/DB as a 1st team All Dade County performer. Some services has him rated as low as three stars, but Gray is easily a 4 star or better prospect.
Runs in the 4.5 - 4.6 range, but looks faster because of his incredible acceleration. Is tough to tackle, and has nice hands and good size to boot.
Likely will be a factor at WR and returning the ball at the next level. But is athletic enough to switch to CB or S much like Corn Elder if needed. Potential dual threat QB, and could see the field in many capacities as an all around offensive weapon.
Chances He Redshirts (1-10) - 2
As part of this series we will evaluate if the given newcomer stands a chance to sit out his first season to retain eligibility.
IF he gets in, I think Gray plays some offense and gets in on special teams early on.
Summary: Keep your fingers crossed folks. Gray reminds me a little of a (maybe not quite as explosive) Devin Hester type in that you're not really sure where to play him, but you want to get his hands on the ball. He is a pure football player who comes from a very good H.S. program (same as Allen Hurns) so if he can qualify, he could be a special player for the 'Canes this year and for years to come.
Again as soon as we know his status we will provide an update.
