Union City (N.J.) High School OT Steven Gonzalez (6'5/300) is only a junior and he already holds 10 scholarship offers. The recruiting process has the potential to overwhelm prospects, but Gonzalez is coping with it exceptionally. "It's going well," Gonzalez said. "I have garnered attention from some of the most prestigious in the nation."

The Miami Hurricanes are one of those schools who are actively recruiting him. Although, the ‘Canes have not offered him yet, he hopes to land an offer before long. "They said they were close to offering me and that I'm high on their list," Gonzalez said.

He currently holds offers from: Ohio State, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Boston College, Virginia, Connecticut, Rutgers, Louisville, Massachusetts and Syracuse. Of those schools his top five are: Ohio State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Virginia.

Early on in the process, it seems Miami has a few things going for them. Gonzalez already took an unofficial visit to Coral Gables this past summer, and his head coach Wilbur Valdez played for ‘Canes in the late 1990's. If Miami were to offer him, they would sky rocket up his list of top schools.

"They [Miami] would jump to the #2 spot," Gonzalez said. "It would mean a lot, I've always liked Miami as a kid."

When searching for the school that fits him the best, he is looking for the full package. "I look for a school where I can relate to the coaches well," Gonzalez said. "Also, I'd like a school with good academics. I'd like a school where I can either start or get in the mix right away, and lastly a chance to go pro if the opportunity was to arise."

At the moment, he does not have any plans to visit Miami again in the spring, but he will be taking an official visit to Ohio State in the coming months.
