DB Commit Is Focused On The Upcoming Season

The south Florida standout is still solid to UM

Brad Barr-US PRESSWIRE

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard CB Dennis Turner (5'11/175) committed to Miami back in June, after he received an offer while attending one of Al Golden's summer camps. Flash forward two months, and he's still solid to UM.

"I'm still feeling good about the commitment," Turner said. "I'm not really focused on that (recruiting), I'm focused on my season right now."

Turner has not spoken to too many fellow UM commits, but he did acknowledge that he's already formed a friendship with DT commit Courtel Jenkins. Jenkins was the one to break the ice, mentioning Turner in one of his tweets on twitter when the news that Turner committed first broke.

The defensive back is also being recruited by other schools such as Arkansas, FIU, FAU, N.C. State and Wake Forrest. Although, they aren't coming after him as they once were, they still make their presence felt, through social media.

The Miami staff is also keeping taps on him via social media, messaging him with daily speeches on staying committed to getting better and having tenacity.

The standout athlete will not be an early enrollee, but he does know that he wants to study business once he arrives in Coral Gables.

Turner, who plays on both sides of the ball for his high school team, knows that he needs to improve if he wants to help push his team to the next level. "I'm running routes and gaining weight," Turner said. "I'm getting stronger and faster, so I don't get hurt."
